THE AUTHOR

Martin Chambers paddled his first canoe when he was eight and has been involved in canoeing ever since.  He joined the Swan Canoe Club at 13, was State junior slalom champion and competed in several Australian Championships.  He was president of the canoe club and also established The Canoe shop, manufacturing and retailing canoes and kayaks.  Martin commenced the first white water rafting trips and the first sea kayak tours in Western Australia.  He has been guiding and leading canoe trips for over 20 years.  As well as paddling on just about every available body of water in Western Australia, Martin has paddled in New Guinea, New Zealand, California, Indonesia, Fiji and the Arctic Peninsula.
